Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he hopes that Fabinho’s injury is not as bad as he fears after the Brazilian international was substituted in the first half of the 1-1 draw against Napoli last night.
The 26-year-old twisted his ankle in a collision with Dejan Lovren and was taken off after just 19 minutes of the game. When asked about the issue in his press conference after the match, Klopp was pessimistic:
Fabinho was not subbed straight away despite picking up the injury. He continued for a few minutes before he was replaced by Georginio Wijnaldum.
If he is out for an extended period, it couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Reds, with up to nine matches coming in December. The Brazilian has become a key player for the Reds and he will be a huge miss.
Like Klopp, supporters will be hoping that Fabinho will only be missing for weeks instead of months, but everything will depend on the results of a scan today.
