Liverpool centre-back Joel Matip is a doubt for tomorrow’s game against Red Bull Salzburg. The 28-year-old picked up a knock against Sheffield United on Saturday and is still being assessed by the medical staff.
In his pre-match press conference today, manager Jurgen Klopp also provided another update on Alisson Becker’s recovery from a calf problem:
“Alisson is very close but for sure not for tomorrow.”
The goalkeeper has not featured since the opening day win against Norwich City, and it seems he could be in line to feature against Leicester City this weekend despite being ruled out for the Salzburg match.
In terms of other injury news, Klopp has confirmed that Xherdan Shaqiri remains sidelined with a torn calf muscle, while Nathaniel Clyne is continuing his rehabilitation from an ACL injury he sustained during pre-season.
Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson were all substituted against the Blades at the weekend, but it appears that none of the trio were taken off due to knocks.
