Latest Liverpool Injury News: Updates On Salah And Shaqiri, Alexander Arnold And Matip

Anfield Stadium

Liverpool could have Mohamed Salah back in contention for tomorrow’s game against Genk. The Egyptian missed the 1-1 draw with Manchester United but took a full part in an open training session this afternoon.

However, Trent Alexander Arnold and Joel Matip did not participate, and there will likely be updates on the pair’s fitness from manager Jurgen Klopp later today.

Matip played against United with a strapping on his right knee, and it may be the case that he is managing an ongoing issue. Alexander-Arnold played the full 90 minutes on Sunday so it remains to be seen why he was absent.

Xherdan Shaqiri is definitely out for the match on Wednesday. The Swiss international is suffering with a calf problem and he is undergoing treatment in Switzerland. The 28-year-old is said to be some way from making a return to first-team action.

Nathaniel Clyne is also out for the long term. The right-back was predicted to be out for six months after sustaining an ACL injury in the pre-season friendly against Borussia Dortmund back in July.
