Latest Liverpool Injury Report: Updates On Tsimikas, Henderson, Matip And Oxlade Chamberlain

Liverpool won’t have Kostas Tsimikas available for tomorrow’s game against Arsenal. The Greek international has a thigh problem which will keep him out of the Carabao Cup tie.

Captain Jordan Henderson could be back for Sunday’s match versus Aston Villa but his fitness will need to be assessed after he picked up a hamstring injury in the first half of the 2-0 win over Chelsea earlier this month.

Joel Matip also has a hamstring issue, but the centre-back will take longer to return than Henderson, with a predicted return date after the international break in October.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is still undergoing rehabilitation after sustaining a knee injury in preseason but no estimate has been given as to when he will be back in first-team action. It doesn’t appear he will be available any time soon.

Thiago Alcantara‘s absence from the matchday squad for the 3-1 victory against Arsenal on Monday has now been explained. The Spaniard has tested positive for COVID-19 and will be out for another week as he self-isolates.
