Lawrenson Predicts The Result As Liverpool Take On Brighton

Former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson is confident that the Reds will come out on top against Brighton tomorrow despite the injury crisis engulfing the club.

The Premier League champions are coming into the game off the back of a disappointing home defeat to Atalanta in the Champions League with manager Jurgen Klopp having tried to rotate his team.

In contrast, the Seagulls will head into the match in confident mood, after their 2-1 win at Aston Villa last weekend. Even so, Lawrenson believes the away side will emerge as victors at the Amex:

“If Brighton try to play their way out from the back again like they did in July when Liverpool nicked the ball off them and scored a couple of early goals, they will be in trouble. This will be a hard enough test for Graham Potter’s side anyway.”

“Liverpool have played Brighton six times in the Premier League in the past three seasons and won every time. I know the Reds still have lots of injuries but I think this will be win number seven.”

The BBC pundit has gone with a 2-0 win for the Reds. Although it would not be surprising to see Liverpool get a couple of goals tomorrow, considering their strength in attack, the prediction of a clean sheet is certainly more questionable.

With Brighton manager Graham Potter fielding a 3-5-2 system currently, they will certainly cause the depleted Liverpool backline some problems but we shall see how things transpire tomorrow lunchtime.
