Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio has praised both Mohamed Salah and Liverpool during a recent interview.
The Spanish international, who has been linked with the Reds and Arsenal in recent months, says that Salah is a world-class footballer playing for a “great” club:
“Mohamed Salah is one of the best players in the world. He has been at the forefront of football for many years. In addition, he is in a great club like Liverpool, who fought and competed in great battles to win great titles over many years. Mohamed Salah, in short, is a player with a special talent and a great left-foot played with distinction. It is always my pleasure to watch any game he plays in.”
Unsurprisingly, some fans on Twitter have interpreted Asensio’s comments as suggesting that he may be interested in joining Salah at Anfield this summer:

Asensio is nearing the final year of his contract at Real but, even though he could be available for around €25m (£21m), the likelihood of him moving to Merseyside is pretty low.
The main thing that would count against a switch going ahead is that Asensio would be directly competing with Salah for a place in the team, if the Egyptian does end up staying at the club. Both players are left-footed and favour playing off the right flank, so fans should not expect Asensio to be a transfer target for Liverpool, despite his warm words.
