“Let’s See…” Romano Raises Spectre Of Arsenal As PL Rivals Plot Late Move For 75M Rated Liverpool Target

Arsenal could beat Liverpool and Chelsea to the signature of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist claims Jurgen Klopp’s side are keeping tabs on the Ecuadorian international’s situation but he believes the Gunners may make a late attempt to recruit the player before the transfer window closes next week:

“Arsenal are one of the three clubs exploring the potential Moises Caicedo deal after he changed agents. Chelsea and Liverpool are also being kept informed on the player. I wouldn’t exclude anything happening in the final days, after last summer Arsenal tried on Deadline Day for Douglas Luiz out of nothing. Let’s see for Caicedo, it’s important to underline that Brighton have no intention to sell unless they receive an important bid.”

As Romano points out, Brighton are reluctant sellers but multiple reports have suggested that the Seagulls may sanction a sale if a team does meet their £75m asking price.

It is a steep figure, which is one that the Reds are unlikely to pay this month, and it could leave the door open for Arsenal to make their move in the coming days.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is said to be keen on finding a replacement for Mohamed Elneny. The Egyptian international is not expected to be back in action any time soon due to a troublesome knee injury.
