Ligue One Star (With 13 Goals And 3 Assists Last Season) Is ‘Very High’ On Liverpool’s List Of Transfer Targets

Liverpool are very interested in signing Lille forward Jonathan David, according to TSN Sports journalist Matthew Scianitti.

The Canadian reporter claims the Reds have been tracking the 21-year-old for a long time, and he features very highly on the Merseyside club’s shortlist of targets:

David confirmed that he snubbed interest from the Premier League to sign for Lille last August. At the time, he was heavily linked with Arsenal and Leeds, while Liverpool and Manchester United had also been mentioned as potential destinations.

Multiple sources have suggested that Jurgen Klopp is actively looking to strengthen his forward line this summer and a deal for David would make sense for many reasons.

As Scianitti mentions, Lille have financial problems so the Canadian international could be available for a relatively affordable price. He had a decent first season in Ligue One, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists, while he can also play right across the front three.
