Former striker turned presenter Gary Lineker was full of praise for Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold after his excellent display versus Manchester City yesterday.
Some rival fans and even some pundits have questioned the fullback’s deficiencies as a defender recently, but Lineker says the 21-year-old silenced his doubters with his performance in the 3-1 win:
Anyone who makes negative noise about @trentaa98 doesn’t understand football. Wonderfully talented, confident, fearless and technically gifted footballer. https://t.co/FHrHfzPtzq

It does seem perplexing that anyone could question Alexander-Arnold’s ability. He’s been in two Champions League finals over the past two seasons and has been a regular in a Reds team that has lost just once in 50 Premier League games.
On top of that, you need to take into account his incredible ability on the ball, with his four assists this season going with the record 16 he managed playing at right-back last campaign.
There may be some debate over whether Alexander-Arnold is the best right-back in the world but there is no doubting that he is a world-class talent.
