Former England striker Gary Lineker has lavished praise on Trent Alexander-Arnold after his man of the match performance against Leicester in the 4-0 win last night.

The Liverpool fullback scored one and provided assists for two Roberto Firmino goals at the King Power Stadium, and Lineker hailed the 21-year-old’s outstanding display:

Alexander-Arnold is surely the best right-back in the world at the moment. He now has the most assists in the Premier League since the start of last season, which is astonishing considering where he plays.

However, the Reds star appears to be reinventing what you should expect from a modern fullback. His crossing ability is top-notch, while his overlapping runs cause havoc for opponents.

Even with Alexander-Arnold’s focus on the attacking side of the game, he has been part of a defence which has now kept four consecutive clean sheets. The defender’s form is very much on another level currently.
