Liverpool ace gets PFA Awards nomination after stunning season start

Sadio Mané had a decent World Cup captaining his Senegal side at Russia 2018 following playing a key role in Liverpool’s run to the Champions League final last season where they ultimately lost 3-1 thanks to Gareth Bale’s heroics for Real Madrid.

This season has seen the African star not only pick up where he left off last campaign but indeed go onto greater heights.

Mané has already bagged 3 goals in his 3 games so far this season, looking a constant threat with his pace and skill plus he is not showing any ill effects from his busy summer in Russia and already looks in great shape.

It can be no coincidence that the Reds have enjoyed 3 wins and sit top of the Premier League table with 9 points along with Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Watford who also all have the maximum 9 points.

Mané got off to a flyer bagging a brace for Liverpool in the opening day victory against Manuel Pellegrini’s new look West Ham side and it is no surprise Liverpool have continued to win as all the new signings like Naby Keita and Alisson in particular have fitted in seamlessly as they beat Crystal Palace solidly and pulled off a decent if not spectacular 1-0 win over Brighton.

For the PFA Fan Awards for August #PFAFANSAWARD Mané is up against Man City’s Aguero and Mendy, Cardiff City’s Etheridge, Watford’s Peyrera and Spurs’ Moura who have all had good starts to the 2018-19 season.

It is interesting to note that there are no Chelsea players amongst the nominees or any Manchester United players. Chelsea’s Jorginho might feel a little hard done by but United have certainly not got any players worthy of a nomination.

Mané must be a heavy favourite however, after his own and Liverpool’s hot start and you can have your say by voting in the awards by clicking here or on the image below.
