Liverpool Ace Places His Future In Doubt After Questioning His Lack Of Game Time

Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri says he is frustrated by the lack of game time he is getting with the Reds at the moment. The Swiss international has only had a brief cameo in the Community Shield so far.

Speaking about his future, the 27-year-old said he needs to find a way to get more minutes on the pitch, hinting that he may have to leave Anfield:

“I’m disappointed that I did not play anymore. Nobody likes to sit on the bench. It’s clear that I want more time. I have to look at the situation and find a solution.”

Shaqiri was on the bench against both Norwich and Southampton, while he was also an unused substitute in the European Super Cup victory against Chelsea.

After joining from Stoke City last summer for £12m, it took him until late September to make his full Premier League debut against Southampton. Even then, he was substituted at half-time by manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds boss was unhappy with his lack of tactical discipline and it appears to be the main reason why Shaqiri did not feature as prominently in the second half of last season and at the beginning of this campaign.
