Liverpool Among TWELVE Teams Pursuing England U21 International Defender

Liverpool are one of a host of teams who have been scouting Fleetwood Town defender James Hill, according to TEAMtalk.

The website claims that the Reds are keeping tabs on the England Under 21 international, along with Chelsea, Tottenham, Leeds, Southampton, Newcastle, Norwich, Burnley, Sheffield United, Stoke City, Birmingham City and Spanish giants Barcelona.

Hill is out of contract at the end of the season and Fleetwood are already resigned to losing him. However, due to the fact that he is still only 19 years of age, the League One side will be due to substantial compensation for the player.

TEAMTalk report that Southampton are the club who are the most determined to secure the centre-back’s signature, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will firm up their interest.

The Reds do have a track record for recruiting youngsters from lower league teams, with Joe Gomez having signed from Charlton for only £3.5m in 2015.
