Liverpool And Chelsea Are ‘Monitoring’ 40m Rated Defender But Face Tough Battle To Sign Him

Liverpool and Chelsea are both “monitoring” Brighton defender Ben White, according to the Guardian. There were reports that the Reds were lining up a bid for the £40m rated centre-back earlier this month and it appears they remain keen on the player.

The 22-year-old spent last season out on loan at Leeds and the Whites have already made three bids to sign the centre-half on a permanent basis. However, Brighton are not looking to sell him.

White has, though, reportedly turned down a contract extension with the Seagulls, suggesting he would be open to leaving the Amex this summer.

Liverpool are believed to have scouted the defender regularly last season and after having sold Dejan Lovren, they may be prepared to table a bid if he was available at the right price.

Chelsea’s involvement, though, could complicate things with manager Frank Lampard said to be an admirer of the player.
