Liverpool and Tottenham are both keeping an eye on Roma winger Nicolo Zaniolo‘s contract situation, according to reports in the Italian media.

The 22-year-old is currently locked in negotiations over extending his deal beyond 2024 but, if an agreement can’t be reached, it is believed he would find it hard to say ‘no’ to a move abroad.

Roma are demanding around €70m (£60m) for Zaniolo so while staying in Italy would be Zaniolo’s first preference, it’s unlikely that teams such as Juventus or AC Milan would be able to afford him.

Both the Reds and Spurs have reportedly been tracking the Italian international for quite some time. However, in terms of Jurgen Klopp’s side, it’s likely that he may only be a target if Mo Salah leaves.

Zaniolo has played most of his football this season on the right wing, where he can cut in onto his stronger left foot. His price tag means he wouldn’t be bought as a reserve for Salah so it stands to reason he is being considered as the Egyptian’s potential successor.
