“Liverpool Are Among The English Clubs That Have Inquired” Fabrizio Romano Provides Exciting Transfer Update

Liverpool have made an enquiry for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Anfield in the Spanish press, but those reports have consistently been knocked down by English journalists. Romano says, however, that the Reds are keen on the Spaniard, although any deal is still dependent on a move to Barcelona collapsing:

“Liverpool are among the English clubs that have inquired about Saul’s situation, the player would appreciate an experience in the Premier League but there is no offer because until the swap deal with Griezmann is definitively collapsed, Saul will not fly to England.”

There were some reports this morning suggesting that Niguez’s agent was travelling to England for negotiations with interested clubs but Romano appears to be dismissing those claims. He instead hints that a swap deal with Barca, which would see Antoine Griezmann moving in the other direction, is still on the cards.

In terms of the other English clubs involved, Manchester United and Chelsea are likely to be the teams that Romano is referring to, so Liverpool very much have a battle on their hands to secure Niguez’s signature.
