Liverpool Confirm 23 Year Old Midfielder Will Return To Germany On Loan

Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has joined Hertha Berlin on a season-long loan, the club have confirmed.

The Serbian spent last campaign at the Bundesliga club, scoring five goals and contributing one assist in 23 appearances.

Grujic will continue his development out on loan and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly assured the 23-year-old that he still has a future at Anfield.

Hertha beat off the likes of Brighton and Atalanta, as well as Werder Bremen and Frankfurt, to the midfielder’s signature.

Liverpool will receive a £2m loan fee from the German side, plus £500k in bonuses. Like many of the Merseyside club’s loan deals, they have included financial penalties if the Serbian doesn’t play.

Grujic has been with the Reds since January 2016 after joining from Red Star Belgrade for £5.1m but he has made just 14 appearances for the English side.

Whether he will return to become part of Klopp’s first team next summer or will be sold, we shall have to wait and see.
