Liverpool are looking to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria and his teammate Marcus Thuram, according to Express.
The German tabloid reports that Zakaria is valued at around €45m (£39.6m) by his club, with the Reds considering a bid for the Swiss international, along with Manchester United and Tottenham.
Liverpool’s interest in Thuram, however, is a newer development. The Frenchman is the son of World Cup winner Lillian Thuram, and he has been impressive for Gladbach this campaign.
The 22-year-old has scored 10 goals and contributed nine assists in 33 appearances since arriving from Guingamp for €12m last summer.
However, Express report that Thuram’s value has increased almost five times since the start of the season, with Gladbach expected to demand around €50m (£44m) for the player.
One other stumbling block for the Reds is that the France Under 21 international is represented by Mino Raiola, who is a notoriously difficult agent to negotiate with. Whether that will put them off, we shall have to wait and see.
