Liverpool edge closer to goalkeeper signing

Liverpool are reportedly close on agreeing a deal with Lazio to sign goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha.

The 23-year-old is said to be one of many goalkeepers on Jurgen Klopp’s radar this summer, and looks to be the most viable of the bunch.

Roma and Brazil goalkeeper Alisson is said to be Klopp’s no.1 target this summer, but the fee quoted by the Italian giants has all but ended the possibility of any move materialising.

The same can be said for Atletico Madrid and Slovenia stopper Jan Oblak, who has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield this summer, but a big stumbling block being his astronomical fee demanded by the Spanish side.

However, Albania international Strakosha is said to be a big target of Klopp’s if moves for Oblack and Alisson fall through, with Lazio believed to want around £30m for the 6’4in man.

And according to Calcio Mercato, Lazio are closing in on the signing of Olympiakos’ veteran keeper Silvio Proto, a move that could pave the way for Strakosha to head to Merseyside for the start of pre-season training.

Liverpool have been very active so far this summer, already wrapping up deals for Monaco midfielder Fabinho and RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita. They are also in hot pursuit of France forward Nabil Fekir, who agreed a deal to sign for the Reds only for it to fall through last minute.
