Liverpool Eyeing Firmino Replacement Who Klopp Has Described As “One Of The Most Exciting Strikers In The World”

Liverpool are interested in signing Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian website claims that the Argentinian international was first considered before the Reds opted to sign Diogo Jota from Wolves last year, but he is still in the frame as a potential long-term replacement for Roberto Firmino.

Manager Jurgen Klopp praised Martinez earlier this week after the Merseyside club were drawn against Inter in the last 16 of the Champions League. The Reds boss was very complimentary about the player’s ability describing him as “one of the most exciting strikers in the world.”

Calciomercato are, though, keen to point out that the 24-year-old is “not for sale” at the moment, although we shall see if that changes, considering the Nerazzurri’s financial situation.

The Serie A champions had to raise cash to clear their debts last summer, but the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea meant there was no need to offload Martinez as well, despite reported interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.
