Liverpool fans call for star man to win prestigious Player of the Year award

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to call for star player Mohamed Salah to win the PFA Player of the Year award following yet another impressive individual display.

The Egyptian – formerly of Chelsea and Fiorentina – bagged a brilliant brace at Anfield on Sunday in a thrilling 2-2 encounter with rivals Tottenham Hotspur, taking his tally for the season to 28 in all competitions.

His astonishing goal tally makes him the highest scoring player in Europe’s top five leagues in all competitions – one ahead of 27-goal PSG star Edinson Cavani.

Salah joined the Reds from AS Roma in the summer after a terrific two seasons in Italy, but his spell at Anfield isn’t his first in the Premier League.

Salah began his career in England with Chelsea in 2014 when he was signed by the Blues from FC Basel. However after a lack of opportunities at Stamford Bridge, he left for Italy and came full circle back to the Premier League after three years away during the summer.

And what has proven to be Chelsea’s loss is without doubt Liverpool’s gain, with Salah proving himself to be one of Europe’s elite players this season.

Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne has been the frontrunner for this season’s PFA Player of the Year award following the Citizen’s brilliant campaign – however given Salah’s immense form, they are plenty who think the Egypt international should be given the nod instead …
