Liverpool fans excited as Shaqiri stars against Brazil

Liverpool fans were hugely impressed with transfer target Xherdan Shaqiri’s performance against Brazil at the weekend.

The Stoke City forward starred as Switzerland upset World Cup favourites Brazil, holding Neymar and co. to a 1-1 draw in their Group E opener.

Brazil took the lead after 20 minutes thanks to a brilliant strike from Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho, however Switzerland equalised five minutes into the second half when Steven Zuber headed home Shaqiri’s corner.

Shaqiri has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool after being relegated with Stoke last season, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly keen to add the 26-year-old to his attacking line ahead of the new campaign.

The Mirror report Liverpool want Shaqiri as a back-up option to both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, and are tempted by his ‘bargain’ price tag.

The Swiss forward, who scored eight times and provided seven assists last term for the Potters,. will be allowed to leave Stoke after the World Cup for around Β£12 million.

Shaqiri, formerly of Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, has often polarised opinion throughout his career, however the Liverpool fans believe they could be landing a real gem if his performance versus Brazil is anything to go by …
