Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to praise “extraordinary” Mohamed Salah after he broke the Premier League’s scoring record.
The Egyptian hit his 32nd goal of the season yesterday afternoon as Liverpool swept aside Brighton 4-0 on the final day of the campaign.
And the strike means the former Chelsea man now holds the record for the most goals scored in a 38-game Premier League season – surpassing the record held by Cristiano Ronaldo, Alan Shearer and Luis Suarez who all managed 31 goals.
It also means Salah scored the Premier League’s Golden Boot in his first season at Anfield.
Handed the award after yesterday’s victory over the Seasiders, Salah said he was thrilled to have enjoyed such a great first campaign with the Reds.
“This is very special,” Salah told Sky Sports after the final whistle.
“It’s always in my mind to help the team to win games, now we are in the Champions League next year and I have won the award, so I am very proud.
“I am trying to improve every year so I am very happy. It’s special to break the record here.”
Special indeed, Mr. Salah …
In his first season at Liverpool, Salah has won virtually every individual accolade including PFA Player of the Year and the Golden Boot, scoring more than Alan Shearer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez. What a truly exceptional talent.

To put @MoSalah goalscoring into perspective, he's broken the record previously held by Alan Shearer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez. Also scored more in season than Thierry Henry, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Robin van Persie Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba. Some company that #LFC
