What. A. Night.
Liverpool’s return to the Champions League knock-out stages went better than anyone could have possibly hoped for on Wednesday night when Jurgen Klopp’s men thrashed Porto 5-0 away from home.
After a nine season absence from post-Christmas Champions League football, the Reds made their return in astonishing fashion.

After starting brightly, Sadio Mane opened the scoring on the 25 minute mark thanks to an error from Porto keeper Jose Sa, and the visitors lead was doubled four minutes later when Mo Salah produced an audacious finish – playing keepie-uppies over the keeper in the six yard box before prodding the ball home.
Eight minutes into the second half, and Mane had his second, slotting home a parried save from Sa who was having a night to forget at Estádio do Dragão.
Firmino made it four with a much deserved goal with 20 minutes to go before Mane completed his hat-trick late on with a trademark strike from outside the box to claim the match-ball.
It was an unbelievable night for Jurgen Klopp’s men, pundits and mutuals, but none more so than for the Liverpool fans, who couldn’t quite believe what they were seeing …

Same taxi driver this morning who bullishly predicted a Porto win on Tuesday. Much more subdued this morning. “Five? I still cannot believe it. Liverpool’s attackers are like machine guns. So quick, so dangerous.”

If this Liverpool side faced the 2013/14 Liverpool that almost won the title, they would still beat them.
