Liverpool fans praise “under-rated” Sadio Mane after Roma masterclass

Liverpool fans have praised forward Sadio Mane after his terrific Champions League performance against AS Roma on Wednesday night.

The Senegal international opened the scoring at the Stadio Olympico as Liverpool progressed to the Champions League final 7-6 on aggregate, despite losing the second-leg 4-2.

Mane was also on hand in Liverpool’s first-leg 5-2 victory at Anfield.

Following the victory, Mane said: “Honestly I think the dream came true and [we’re] very happy – the players, fans, you guys.

“I think we deserved to win and to play this final.”

Despite nine goals in the Champions League, and 19 in all competitions this season, Mane’s contribution has slightly fallen by the wayside such has been the form of both PFA Player of the Year Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino – with the duo having managed 43 and 27 goals respectively this term.

But following Mane’s Man of the Match display in Rome, and his pair of goals that all but booked Liverpool’s place in the final later this month, the Reds’ fans are starting to appreciate just how vital their Senegalese star is …
