Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to praise Reds youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold after his impressive England debut last night.
The 19-year-old took to the field for the first time in a Three Lions shirt at Elland Road yesterday evening as Gareth Southgate’s side swept aside Costa Rica 2-0.
Alexander-Arnold started the game at left-back in a back five, and put in a solid performance typical of his brilliant breakthrough season at Liverpool, before being replaced by Kieren Tripper on 64 minutes.
The Liverpool full-back was a shock inclusion in Southgate’s 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia, being named as one of only two players in the squad without a competitive international match under their belt – the other being Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.
However, if last night’s display was anything to go by, Southgate should have no worries about the youngster’s ability to perform on the biggest stage – with the teenager’s solid performance perhaps enough to even claim a starting spot when England take on Tunisia in 10 days time.
And his performance was not just good news for his country, but also for his club – the youngster proving again that Liverpool have one of the world’s most talented defenders on their books.
Congratulations Trent! Onwards and upwards!
I love watching Trent Alexander-Arnold cross the ball. Elite technique, fantastic quality. #LFC

Trent Alexander-Arnold just isn't bothered is he? Premier League, Champions League, international level, doesn't matter. He's just a fantastic footballer and he's not scared to show what he can do no matter what the occasion. He's going to be an absolute star.
