Liverpool fans react as Coutinho makes long awaited Barca switch

Liverpool fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts after Philippe Coutinho completed his long awaited move to Barcelona.

The Brazil star – who has been heavily linked with the Catalan giants for a number of months – made his £142 million official on Saturday – in turn becoming the third most expensive player in history.

Coutinho joined Liverpool in 2013 in an £8 million move from Inter Milan, and has since established himself as one of the club’s key players, scoring 54 goals in just over 200 appearances for the Reds.

In moving to Barcelona, the midfielder is beginning his second spell in Spain, having spent the 2011/12 season on-loan with Barcelona’s biggest rivals, Espanyol.

“It is incredible to know that I am going to live with idols, players with a lot of history,” said the Brazilian after completing his record move.

“Footballers like Leo Messi, Luis Suarez, [Andres] Iniesta, [Gerard] Pique, [Sergio] Busquets.

“I am very happy to be able to live together, to be able to learn from them and be able to win together.”

While Coutinho may be happy to move to the Camp Nou, the Liverpool fans aren’t so pleased, especially when he was pictured watching the Merseyside derby on TV on Friday …
