Liverpool fans react as former flop Iago Aspas emerges as shock target for Real Madrid

Former Anfield flop Iago Aspas has emerged as a shock target for Real Madrid, and the Liverpool fans can’t quite believe it.

Aspas left Liverpool in the summer of 2014 after just one disastrous season at Anfield in which he failed to score a single Premier League goal.

But the 31-year-old has rebuilt his career in Spain with Celta Vigo, scoring 67 times across the last three seasons for the La Liga outfit, form which earned him a place in the Spain World Cup squad this summer.

And his displays haven’t gone un-noticed on the club scene either, with Super Deporte now reporting Real Madrid a planning a late £36 million swoop for the 31-year-old forward.

Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui is keen to bolster his front line after losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus earlier in the summer, and sees Aspas as a short-term option to help fire in the goals this season in the absence of the Portuguese star.

Real also considered Valencia’s Rodrigo Moreno, who started his career at the Bernaebeu, however Aspas representatives a much cheaper alternative with Los Che are demanding his €140 release clause in full.

So Aspas to Madrid? Who would have guessed it? Certainly not this lot …
