Liverpool fans have been reacting to a Darwin Nunez miss which would have given the Reds three points.
The Reds drew 2-2 with Aston Villa on Wednesday night in a game that stretched their lead at the top of the table to eight points.
However, rivals Arsenal now have a game in hand, and with a win against West Ham on Saturday, could close the gap to five points at the top of the table.
Liverpool took the lead through Mo Salah, before Youri Tielemans equalised for Villa in the 38th minute. Ollie Watkins handed Villa the lead just before halftime.
In the second half, the Reds equalised through Trent Alexander-Arnold and had the chance to win when Darwin Nunez missed an open goal after the ball was played across the box by Dominik Szobozslai.

Liverpool fans took to X to react to the miss, and weigh up their opinions on Nunez, who has struggled for form this season under Arne Slot.
Fair point from Slot, but Nunez’s inconsistency is killing Liverpool’s momentum.
That miss against Villa wasn’t just bad luck—it’s part of a pattern.
Time for him to prove he’s worth the hype or make way for someone else!

Darwin Nunez is so poor in front of goal

He seems like the type of person that reads comments and all the criticisms from fans of the club. Felt like as soon as he missed he felt that pressure and his confidence was shattered. He’s missed big chances since he joined though and a lot of the fans seem to have had enough.…

It’s clear that Darwin’s effort and work ethic are there, but sometimes the mental game can be just as challenging as the physical one. It’s all about bouncing back and not letting one moment define the performance.”

The best way to respond is to score next time.

He completely lost all will and determination.
Normally his work rate helps the team, even if he doesn’t score.

Arne Slot backs Nunez despite Liverpool miss
After the game, Liverpool boss Arne Slot was quick to defend Nunez, saying that he could accept the miss. Although he did say that the striker’s attitude after it happened needs working on.
He said: “A miss that I can accept… what is harder to accept, his behaviour after the chance. That miss got too much in his head where he is the usual Darwin that works his ass off”.
“I think he was too disappointed after missing that chance”. Nunez has made 21 Premier League appearances this season for Liverpool, scoring four goals.
