Bayern Munich director Uli Hoeness has confirmed that the Bundesliga champions will not be involved in any “major transfers” this summer.

The German club have been heavily linked with Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez in recent weeks, along with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United, but Hoeness was adamant that Bayern will not be after any high profile signings:

“There will be no major transfers. You can forget about it . That was discussed between the board of directors and the supervisory council at the last meeting.”

Niguez is reportedly available for around €60m (£52m), with Liverpool having been mentioned as a potential suitor in a report last week. It has been claimed that Atletico are interested in Naby Keita and that could pave the way for a potential transfer in the other direction.

However, it doesn’t seem like a realistic prospect at the moment. Atletico have reportedly offered Niguez to Manchester City in exchange for Bernardo Silva, while it is believed their primary target is still Udinese’s Rodrigo Paul, so Liverpool’s hopes of raising funds through Keita’s sale look unlikely currently.
