Manchester United have turned their attentions towards signing Leeds’ Calvin Phillips, leaving Liverpool as favourites for Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, according to the Daily Star.
The Reds are known to be keeping tabs on the 18-year-old, but it was believed that United, Manchester City and Chelsea were also in the race for the player’s signature.
However, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side’s having switched targets away from Bellingham, it means Liverpool have one less rival to worry about as they look to strengthen their midfield with the England international.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether Dortmund are prepared to do business. Recent reports indicate that the Bundesliga side may not be interested in offloading Bellingham next year.
It is thought that, while they are willing to let Erling Haaland go, they would be extremely reluctant to sell two key players in the same summer. Liverpool may have some persuading to do in order to secure one of their key transfer targets.
