“Liverpool Has Been My Favourite Club For Years” Belgian Teenage Sensation Opens Up About Potential Transfer

Racing Genk goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt has revealed that he was a Liverpool supporter growing up.

The Reds, along with AC Milan, Roma and Real Madrid are believed to be keeping tabs on the 19-year-old’s performance after he became Genk’s number one back in February. When asked about the interest being shown in him, Vandevoordt said that he was flattered to be linked with so many teams, while saying he does harbour a soft spot for the Merseyside club:

“That is good to hear that there is interest. I am not really involved with that. I focus on Genk and do not skip any steps. I leave all that to the people who are close to me. I want more now, gain experience and win some prizes with Genk. I love the English league and Liverpool has been my favourite club for years.”

It’s likely that Liverpool will be looking to sign a young, upcoming keeper in the not too distant future. Adrian could be leaving Anfield at the end of the season, and there will be a space on the bench to be Alisson Becker’s backup.

Whether the Reds will seriously consider making a move for Vandevoordt, it remains to be seen, but it appears the player himself would be very open to the prospect.
