Liverpool Have £8.9m Offer Rejected As They Step Up Goalkeeper Search

Liverpool have had a €10m (£8.9m) offer rejected for Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, according to reports in the Turkish media.

The Reds are apparently keen on the 23-year-old as they look for a possible backup to Alisson Becker.

Current number two Simon Mignolet is expected to leave Anfield this summer, and it seems Cakir is a player that the Merseyside club are eyeing as his replacement.

However, it appears the Turkish international is not for sale with Trabzonspor planning to keep the shot-stopper for next season.

The Super Lig side apparently intend to retain all of their best players after finishing fourth, just six points off champions Galatasaray.

Cakir made 25 appearances in all competitions last campaign, conceding 28 goals and keeping seven clean sheets. He also recently made his debut for Turkey at senior level.

The keeper played the full 90 minutes against Greece in a 2-1 friendly victory at the back end of last month.
