“Liverpool Have Made An Offer” Club President Confirms Reds Approach For 23 Year Old

Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaogl has revealed that they have received a bid from Liverpool for goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Reds over the past year, and Agaogl has now confirmed that the Merseyside club did make a formal approach:

“There are offers for Cakir, we continue to receive offers. It’s been said Liverpool have made an offer. So a team that is undefeated in the Premier League wants my keeper. In other words, Liverpool’s goalkeeper is in my goal.”

It remains unclear when Liverpool made the offer, but it would be a surprise if the Reds were looking to sign the keeper this month.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested that the signing of Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg will be the only new addition in January.

Liverpool also already have three first-team goalkeepers with Alisson the undisputed first choice, Adrian playing in the FA Cup and Caoimhin Kelleher having featured in the Carabao Cup this campaign.

Adrian’s contract at Anfield ends in 2021, and at 33 years of age, it may be the case that Cakir is seen as possible long term replacement to become Alisson’s understudy.
