Liverpool “Have Offered €70m” To Sign Ligue One Ace Claims Journalist

Both Liverpool and Tottenham have tabled bids in the region of €70m (£62m) for Lille striker Victor Osimhen, according to Italian journalist Diego De Luca.

The Nigerian international has also been interesting Napoli and when asked about the player on Radio Kiss Kiss, a station based in Naples, De Luca said there are a number of teams pursuing the forward:

“He [Osimhen] is a player owned by Lille. The deal is very complicated because there are various teams on the player. Liverpool and Tottenham have offered 70 million [euros] for the player.”

Liverpool have been mentioned as a possible destination for Osimhen previously, with a report in Spain earlier this month suggesting that the Reds were even close to signing the 21-year-old. Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as Spurs, have also been mentioned as interested clubs.

The £62m figure that is put forward by De Luca does seem to be extremely high, especially considering the current financial climate.

It is believed that Liverpool will hold back on potential bids for players, with it being reported that the Merseyside club will not look to trigger Timo Werner’s €60m release clause for the time being, so a bid for Osimhen does seem improbable.
