Liverpool Hold The ‘Most Serious’ Interest In Portuguese Midfield Enforcer With PL Clubs Set For 60M Transfer Battle

Liverpool are the “most serious suitor” for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, according to the Daily Mail.

The English tabloid claims that a number of Premier League teams are interested in the Portuguese international but the Reds are leading the race as things stand.

Palhinha only moved to Craven Cottage from Sporting Lisbon for £17m last year and it is believed that his asking price could be over three times that figure this summer.

The Mail report that Fulham may demand as much as £60m, although the Cottagers are hoping to keep hold of the 27-year-old for at least another season.

Most of the Premier League’s ‘Big Six'” are said to be big fans of Palhinha, with Newcastle also keen on the player.

From the sound of things, however, it appears Liverpool are the ones likeliest to make a formal offer at the end of the campaign. The Portuguese star is very much a holding midfield player so he could well be seen as a replacement for Fabinho.
