Liverpool are favourites to land Sporting Lisbon forward Nuno Andre Cardoso, according to the Jornal da Madeira.
The Portuguese publication reports that the Reds are the likeliest destination for the 18-year-old, although there are other teams in the running for the player.
Cardoso has been at Sporting since the age of 12 but has yet to make a senior appearance for the Portuguese club.
At international level, the striker has played for Portugal’s Under 16 team, but the teenager isn’t someone that has been tipped for big things at youth level.
Cardoso has a year left on his contract with Sporting so it remains to be seen if Liverpool will offer a transfer fee or compensation for the youngster.
If he does move to Merseyside, he will come in to play under Barry Lewtas for the Under 18s or perhaps under Neil Critchley for the Under 23s to see if he has what it takes to make the breakthrough at Anfield.
