Liverpool head coach Arne Slot says he “would be surprised” if Alisson Becker is available for the first fixture after the next international break.
The Brazilian has already been ruled out for the Chelsea match, and asked for a more exact timescale on his recovery, Slot suggested that he would not be fit to face Manchester United either:
“That depends also on how fast a recovery goes. So, Saturday it’s clear, he’s not going to play for Brazil, and I would be surprised if he would be there in the first game after the international break.”
“But from there on, sometimes things can go a bit faster or a bit slower. It’s always difficult to say the amount of days and weeks, but for the upcoming games he will not be part of us or the Brazil team.”
What injury has Alisson picked up?
It is believed that the 33-year-old sustained a hamstring injury during the 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray on Tuesday evening.
Alisson was forced off the pitch midway through the second half, with Giorgi Mamardashvili taking his place in the team. The Georgian international is now set for an extended run in the starting eleven.
When will Alisson make his comeback for Liverpool?
Initial reports suggest that the club’s No.1 will be unavailable until the November international break, which means he could miss several more games – in addition to the two that Slot mentions.
After the Man United match on October 19th, the Reds have three more fixtures before the end of the month.
Slot’s side take on Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League before facing Brentford three days later at the Gtech Community Stadium. They then host Crystal Palace at Anfield in the Carabao Cup fourth-round tie.
At the start of November, there are two home games against Aston Villa and Real Madrid before a trip to Manchester City.
