Alisson Becker

The Brazilian sustained a groin injury after running back into his box to save a shot from Victor Osimhen following a mistake from Ibrahima Konate.

Slot has already confirmed that Liverpool’s number one won’t play at Stamford Bridge:

“When he sprinted back, he felt something. I cannot tell you [exactly] because I am not a physio, but normally when a player when he sprints back, feels something, goes to the floor and doesn’t come back onto the pitch [it’s not good].

“If my player is on the floor, I nine out of 10 times fear the worst – and by the worst I mean he cannot continue. That’s what happened with Alisson. Normally, he will not be able to play Saturday. That’s 99.9 per cent – I’ve already said 100 per cent, but let’s make it 99.9 [although] I think it’s 100.”

The fact that the Reds don’t play again for two weeks after the Chelsea fixture will give Alisson extra time to recover, but a lot depends on the extent of the injury.

Giovanni Leoni

The centre-back ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the second half of the 2-1 win over Southampton in the Carabao Cup last week.

Leoni landed awkwardly on the sidelines following an aerial challenge and he left the pitch on a stretcher.

Slot says that the teenager is likely to be out for around 12 months, but recovery time from ACL injuries can be shorter than that, depending on how rehabilitation goes.
