Liverpool interested in Shaqiri

Liverpool are said to be interested in signing Stoke City forward Xherdan Shaqiri with the player likely to leave the Potters following their relegation.

The Swiss international is understood to have a relegation release clause in his contract which has become active since Stoke lost their Premier League status during the 17/18 season.

The release clause is set at around £12m, meaning Liverpool could snap up the quality winger for an extremely cheap fee.

Shaqiri joined Stoke in 2015 from Inter Milan, a move that shocked many but provided the Premier League with one of its most exiting players.

However, following from Stoke’s relegation, Shaqiri has expressed his desire to leave the club but says he would love to stay in England – perhaps putting Liverpool as the front runners for his signature.

Spurs and Southampton are also rumoured to be in for the speedster, who at 26-years-old is arguably at the peak of his career ability wise.

Liverpool have been fairly active so far this transfer window, with Monaco midfielder Fabinho joining for around £43m and Lyon captain Nabil Fekir supposedly about to follow suit.
