Liverpool Join PL Rivals In Race For 8.6M Rated Croatian Star Following Scouting Mission

Liverpool have sent scouts to see Hamburg defender Mario Vuskovic in action, according to reports in the German media

A number of teams had representatives in attendance for the opening league game against Eintracht Braunschweig, including the Reds, Burnley, Wolfsburg, Frankfurt, Freiburg and Stuttgart.

It is not known whether they were all there to watch Vuskovic but he is believed to be the player who is showing the most promise so it stands to reason that teams are keeping tabs on him.

Both Wolves and Brentford have also been watching the Croatian Under 21 international in recent weeks so Jurgen Klopp’s side may have to see off competition from Premier League rivals for the centre-back‘s services.

Vuskovic only joined Hamburg on a permanent deal earlier this month following a loan spell with the Bundesliga 2 club. There have been suggestions that they may sell the player for around €10m (£8.6m), although it has since been reported that they may hold out for a higher figure.
