Liverpool Fan-Favourite Set To Join Saudi Arabian Club On Free Transfer

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino looks set to joined Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ahli in the summer window on a free transfer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

Romano mentions that negotiations between Firmino and Al Ahli are underway. They have reportedly offered the 31-year-old a three-year deal, which will keep him at the club until June 2026. However, he has yet to accept the offer.

On his official Twitter account, Romano wrote: “Understand Al Ahli are in talks to sign Roberto Firmino. Negotiations ongoing, waiting for player’s final decision. Al Ahli are preparing medicals in case they get the green light later this week.”

In a follow up tweet, he mentioned: “More on Al Ahli proposal to Roberto Firmino. Saudi club has offered Brazilian striker a contract valid until June 2026, three year deal. Al Ahli hope to get it done this week to plan for the medical tests between Wednesday and Friday.”

Who else is interested in a move for Roberto Firmino?

According to a piece by Liverpool.com, Barcelona were thought to be interested in a move for Firmino. Additionally, the Brazilian hitman himself was thought to be keen on the move. Despite this, nothing has materialised between the two parties since this.

As such, Al Ahli seem to stand alone in their pursuit of the player – they only need to agree a deal with him and his agent to complete the move.

Will Liverpool miss Roberto Firmino?

Firmino has been outstanding for Liverpool during his time with the club. Under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp, he developed into a complete striker with no outstanding weaknesses.

His movement, finishing and link play were all top-notch. Additionally, he also served as a perfect foil to the Reds’ goalscoring wide men, such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz.

His playmaking abilities, combined with his understated physical presence, allowed him to create space for wingers to run into and score plenty of goals for Liverpool during his heyday.

With Darwin Nunez now spearheading Liverpool’s attack, they have found an adequate replacement for him – but Firmino will forever remain in the hearts and minds of Reds fans.
