Liverpool and Manchester City are big admirers of AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer, according to reports in the Italian media.
It has been previously claimed that the Reds were eyeing a move for the former Arsenal player but it appears that the Premier League champions have also got involved.
Bennacer currently has a €50m (£42m) buyout fee, which has likely piqued the interest of both Premier League teams, but Milan are looking to tie down the Algerian to a new deal, which would remove (or at least raise) the release clause.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are expected to be in the market for a midfielder, following the news of Naby Keita’s injury, and Bennacer could come under consideration.
The 24-year-old put in a very good performance against Atalanta at the weekend, scoring the equaliser in the 1-1 draw. He is usually a holding midfielder by trade, so he would compete with the likes of Fabinho if he did make the switch to Anfield.
