Liverpool Keen On Snapping Up Teenage Sensation After Man Of The Match Debut

Liverpool are tracking Rochdale right-back Luke Matheson, according to the Daily Mail.

The Reds are not the only team interested in the teenager, however, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton also looking at the defender.

Matheson was given his senior debut for Rochdale against Bury in the Checkatrade Trophy on Tuesday night and was given the man of the match award for his display in the 2-1 win.

The 15-year-old has been on the radar of Premier League clubs for a number of months, but he hadn’t made his first-team bow until this week despite having been selected in matchday squads since he was 14.

The full-back was named on the bench for the game against Bury but an early injury to Liverpool loanee Connor Randall meant that the youngster was put on as his replacement.

Matheson’s man of the match display was even more impressive considering that his teammate Zac Clough scored and created an assist to help Dale to victory.
