Liverpool legend Didi Hamann has responded to claims on Twitter that Emre Can is statistically a better player than him.
Can scored his 11th Liverpool goal against Maribor in the Champions League this week, and as Reds fan Liam Bekker pointed out – he did so in 140 fewer games than that of Hamann.
The Liverpool fan tweeted: “Emre Can has now scored the same number of goals for Liverpool as compatriot Dietmar Hamann (11) in 140 fewer matches.”

But former Germany star Hamann didn’t take kindly to the tweet whatsoever, and responded rather brutally by saying: “He also won 8 trophies less in 140 fewer matches.”

During Hamann’s illustrious Liverpool career he won all manner of trophies, bringing home the Champions League, the UEFA Cup, two FA Cups, two League Cups and two UEFA Super Cups during his 7 years at Anfield between 1999 and 2006.
Can on the other hand has won nothing, and with rumours about him leaving the club next summer, perhaps he will never match Hamann’s impressive trophy haul.
