Liverpool Look To Snap Up Out Of Contract French Teenage Defender

Liverpool are interested in signing Toulouse centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, according to reports in France.

The Reds are not the only team keen on the defender, however, with Wolves, Leipzig and Lyon also tracking the 18-year-old.

Todibo has come through Toulouse’s academy to make his first-team debut this season, having started ten of the French side’s 13 league fixtures.

They have conceded 21 goals in Ligue One this campaign, which is the joint fourth worst in the top flight, but the teenager is seen as a promising young talent.

With that in mind, Toulouse have been trying to tie up Todibo to a professional contract. He’s currently a second-year scholar at the academy and his current deal expires in the summer.

Foreign clubs like Liverpool will be able to talk with the centre-half in January, paying just a six-figure compensation fee next summer.

So far, Todibo has turned down offers to sign a professional contract with Toulouse and he was relegated to the reserves for their last game against Amiens at the weekend until his future is resolved.
