Liverpool have made a €45m (£40m) offer for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to reports in the Portuguese media.
The 24-year-old has been the subject of much speculation over the past few weeks, but it is believed that the Reds are the only team to make a concrete bid.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham and Inter Milan have all reportedly made enquiries for Fernandes but haven’t yet made an official offer.
Whether Liverpool have actually tabled a proposal, it remains to be seen, but the Portuguese international would provide something that the Merseyside club have been lacking; goals from midfield.
Fernandes hit 32 goals in all competitions last season, but he contributed 18 assists as well. He is not a one-season wonder either after scoring 16 goals in the 2017/18 campaign.
The midfielder has been angling for a move to the Premier League, but there may be concerns that his form in Portugal won’t translate to a league where the standard is higher.
