Liverpool May Consider Using Former Player’s Sell On Clause To Secure 25% Discount On Argentinian Ace

Liverpool are considering using Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto in their attempts to sign his teammate Joaquin Correa, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Argentinian international is said to be on the Reds’ radar but is valued at around €80m (£70m) by his club.

Alberto meanwhile joined Lazio from Liverpool four years ago, but the Merseysiders have a 30% sell-on clause if the Spaniard leaves the Serie A side.

Calciomercato report that the Reds could offer to waiver this agreement and get a 25% discount on Correa, who would then cost €60m (£52.5m).

That means Alberto would be valued at €67m, which is a steep figure, but the 27-year-old is one of Lazio’s standout players, having scored five goals and provided 14 assists in 30 appearances this campaign.

As for Correa, the fee in question is still sizeable, and it would be a big surprise if Liverpool decided to make such a big investment in the Argentine this summer.
