Liverpool and Real Madrid have both “spoken” to Monaco about signing Aurelien Tchouameni, according to 90min.com‘s Graeme Bailey.

The journalist claims that other teams, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are also keen on the France international but they haven’t gone as far in terms of formally registering their interest.

For their part, Monaco are adamant that Tchouameni won’t be sold for less than €60m (£51m) this summer, which is reportedly an issue for Real, who are unwilling to pay more than €40m (£34m).

Whether that valuation will be a problem for Liverpool as well, it is not known. The Reds are believed to be actively looking to sign a new midfielder but it would be a sizeable outlay for the Merseyside club.

It is believed that the future of James Milner could have a bearing on Liverpool’s decision to sign Tchouameni. If the vice-captain opts against signing a new contract, it is believed that more money will be invested in signing a replacement.
