Liverpool summer signing Alexander Isak has said that it’s been a “tougher” start to life at Anfield, and asks people to leave his summer transfer saga in the past.
The Reds have been through their first real tough spell under Arne Slot over the past two weeks, losing three games in a row. Firstly, they tasted their first defeat of the season to Crystal Palace, before falling to Galatasaray in the Champions League.
Last weekend, they lost again, as Chelsea won 2-1, leaving the Reds second in the Premier League table behind Arsenal. It is somewhat of a surprise to see Liverpool struggle, as their summer signings on paper are unbelievable.
Alexander Isak joined the club for a fee of £125m, and he is considered one of the best strikers in the world. However, his game time has been limited, and he is yet to score in the Premier League for Liverpool. After his controversial summer transfer saga, there are a lot of eyes on the Swedish international.
Isak reflects on “tougher” start at Liverpool
The former Newcastle striker spoke to the media this week whilst on international duty with Sweden, and he reflected on just how difficult adjusting to life at Anfield has been.
He told ESPN: “I’m working hard to push myself and play my game. Things have been a bit tougher for us. I believe that as the team improves and things start to flow better, it will also go better for me.
“I’ve been really happy so far. A city where the team has a very good relationship with the fans which is important. It’s been nice so far.”
Isak was also asked about his controversial move from Newcastle, where he spent much of the summer away from the Magpies’ first team, and pushing for his move. He simply replied: “It’s nothing I want to dwell on now.
“It doesn’t benefit anyone, neither me nor Newcastle so let it be.”
